Has anyone’s cat been offered Rapamycin / Felycin-CA1 for early-stage HCM yet?

Hi everyone. I was reading an article about Rapamycin (sirolimus) for cats recently — apparently there’s now a conditionally FDA-approved drug for managing early / subclinical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats.

Here’s my story: a few months ago my vet found out that my old tabby has some thickening in the heart walls. It’s not severe yet — no obvious symptoms, just a murmur on echo. I was told we should monitor closely. Now I’m reading about Rapamycin (or the brand Felycin‑CA1) and how early research shows promising signs that it might actually slow or even reverse that hypertrophy rather than just wait and hope.

I feel both hopeful and a bit cautious. On one hand, this could be a real game changer for cats like mine. On the other, I wonder what the long-term risks are and whether this is widely available yet (some sources say not commercially available until later in 2025).

So I’m asking all of you: if you have a cat with early HCM — or if your vet has mentioned Rapamycin / Felycin — what has your experience been so far? Did your vet start treatment? Did you notice any side effects? Would you recommend waiting or jumping on it now if given the chance?

Would really appreciate hearing what others think or have gone through.
